History of Porto Carras Grand Resort
Porto Carras was born from the vision of Greek shipping magnate Yiannis Carras in the 1960s. While sailing through the Aegean Sea in 1963, he discovered an untouched bay in Halkidiki and imagined creating a world-class resort that would combine luxury with the natural beauty of the region.
At the time, the area consisted largely of swamps and inaccessible beaches, with no roads, water, or electricity. What began as a vision would soon become one of the most ambitious transformations in Mediterranean tourism.
